Gluten in Medication – Call to Action!

We all struggle with knowing whether there is gluten in our medication or not. For Celiac sufferers this is extremely important. Without knowing if a medication has gluten, we could be inadvertently making things worse instead of better!

A bill was introduced into the US Congress in April by Tim Ryan (D-OH) and Tom Cole (R-OK) introduced the Gluten in Medicine Disclosure Act of 2019. The bill is designed to make it easier to identify gluten in prescription medications. The bill would require drug manufacturers to label medications with a list of ingredients, their source, and whether gluten is present.

Please contact read the bill here for more information.

Currently the bill is sitting in committee. The bill needs to be pushed out of committee and on to the floor for a vote. Please contact your Member of Congress to tell them how important this bill is and how much Celiac disease affects your life. The bill will languish in committee unless enough people let their elected representatives know this is a major issue.

Here is a list of all the members on committee considering this bill. I live in Georgia and my representative is not on this list. However, I will be contacting another Georgia representative to let them know how important this bill is and that I would like him to vote to move it out of committee.

Take action today! It is Celiac Awareness Month. Let’s make Congress aware of Celiac disease!!!
