🚨 CALL TO ACTION: Celiac community, we need to speak up — TODAY. 🚨

I saw this yesterday and thought it was spam. It’s not.

The FDA is considering a new rule that could change food labeling forever for people with celiac disease by:
✔️ Requiring all gluten-containing ingredients to be listed by name
✔️ Requiring cross-contact controls with gluten-containing grains

This matters because right now, labels only clearly protect us from wheat — but wheat is not the only gluten-containing grain. Rye and barley also contain gluten, and they often hide behind confusing ingredient names.

John Bari, a long-time celiac advocate whose son was diagnosed years ago, has been fighting for this change. Now we have a chance to support it.

👉 Here’s what to do:

  1. Go to FederalRegister.gov
  2. Search: “Labeling and Preventing Cross-Contact of Gluten for Packaged Foods; Request for Information”
  3. Leave a public comment in support

If you’re wondering why this matters:
Many celiac patients spend HOURS reading labels trying to decode ingredients. Malt, for example, is often derived from barley — but barley isn’t a top 8 allergen, so it doesn’t have to be clearly disclosed. That means newly diagnosed patients can (and do) get sick without realizing why.

Most of us are told: “Just go gluten free and you’ll be fine.”
But without clear labeling, that advice is incomplete — and dangerous.

There are 3.5 million celiac patients in the U.S. We deserve transparent, accurate labeling.
