What is the most off the wall thing you’ve tried to help your celiac disease?
I’ve done many, but probably none are so far out there.
I used castor oil compresses on my belly to help with bloating. I put castor oil on a large towel. Then, I put a heating pad over the towel. I laid on my couch for an hour. I did this for a month. I didn’t find it help with bloating.
I’ve done a three day juice cleanse to help adjust my microbiome. The juice cleanse made me tired, angry, and really hungry.
I went to a functional medicine doctor. I paid thousands of dollars for tests, vitamins, and consultations. I will say the stool analysis was interesting. I did make some changes in my diet to help with inflammation. Overally, I found the changes I made had some, but not a lot of impact.
I went keto and tried the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Those were both pretty miserable.
Honestly, the most helpful thing I did was an 8 week low FODMAP diet. After the 8 weeks, I slowly added in the foods I had cut out. My bloat is much more under control.
For me, the most helpful things are several lifestyle and dietary changes. I follow a temporary low FODMAP diet and take consistent supplementation with good vitamins and fiber. Exercise is also essential. Additionally, I maintain a gluten free diet focused on no or low processed foods.
So, what have you done that might be outside the box to help with your celiac disease?
