My kid was very sick. It was a common virus with a severe presentation. It was a little scary, but the doctors and nurses involved didn’t seem worried. I didn’t worry much. That’s a big fat lie, I worried a lot.
During the process, a gastroenterologist was engaged. I think at one point I told them I had celiac disease. As we were eliminating potential causes of this severe infection, a celiac test result pops up in the portal. The result was negative.
I LOVE that they ran this test.
I love that celiac disease has become mainstream enough to run a celiac panel just in case. I love that they thought celiac might be the culprit of the issue.
I know that not all doctors know a lot about celiac disease. Even once they find celiac, there isn’t much doctors can do.
At the same time, awareness is key. The idea that celiac disease was thought of as a potential cause is the win here.
Bottom Line – Hug the ones you love and have a great Labor Day.
