It started Friday. I had breakfast, but skipped lunch. I started a new job and was engrossed in the newness. I did not stop. I should have. Dinner was lackluster. I was not even interested in eating.
On Saturday, I had a pretty standard breakfast. It included two eggs with some Parmesan, a slice of bacon, and a Glutino English Muffin. Then I went to a food festival event. Worked at the event and skipped lunch because there were not many gluten free foods available. I had cocktails and popcorn for dinner. I was not hungry enough to cook!
The fatigue from not fueling my body hit hard Sunday. Difficulty focusing, low energy, and I had a bunch of things to do. I ate three meals on Sunday and feel much better. My goal is to eat three meals today.
Sometimes I skip meals because there is nothing good to eat, even when I’m at home. I am in a funk about food right now. I’m not inspired and rather bored by all food.
I have moments when I’m inspired and go on food obsessions. Most recently, I was loving rice noodles with a peanut, sesame dressing. I put veggies, scrambled eggs, shrimp, chicken, or just about anything with these noodles. I’ve been obsessed with Gluten Free Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits, various ways to make gluten free fried chicken, smoked pork butt, coq au vin, Krustease Cinnamon Swirl Cake, and various other things.
I got into these food ruts before diagnosis. Even looking through an archive of the articles I’ve written, there are several articles describing exactly this feeling. I always work through it and find something new to eat!
If you struggle here, know you are not alone. I’ll keep trying new things and keep hoping to find something that will inspire. Until then, I am eating to sustain energy more than anything. So, wish me luck!
