I have a few favorite gluten free items that I would like to share with you all. Kind of like Oprah did her favorite things list, except, mine are all gluten free! These are all things that I use and eat regularly. I always have them around. Unfortunately, I’m not Oprah, so I won’t be giving these away for free. But most of the items are pretty inexpensive, so stock up and enjoy!!!
Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix – around $4/box
I love these things. We take them everywhere to parties and vacations. I make them big for sides for dinner and small to take the parties. Nobody realizes they are gluten free. I add maple bacon or sage sausage to the recipe to mix things up a bit.
Boom Boom Shrimp – $20/2lb bag (Whole Foods)
I use these with leftover rice, fried egg, vegetables, and gluten free soy sauce for an awesome lunch. They are great for shrimp tacos with corn tortillas and a spicy coleslaw. I’ve used them for appetizers at a party with a Boom Boom sauce. I’m sure there are more uses, but darn, the two I’ve described are awesome enough!
Gluten Free California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chicken Pizza – $8 – $10 (Everywhere)
When I am bored with the Freschetta Gluten Pizza, this is my go to. I’ve tried all of the gluten free pizzas out there. I’ve thrown several away because they were inedible. This is also a nice change from regular pizza. It makes me feel like I’m eating a real pizza again.
Bagged Coleslaw Mix – $3ish
I used coleslaw mix for a lot. Coleslaw is the obvious first use. But I use it in stir frys, scrambled eggs, and soup. Yes, I said soup. It is simply a timesaver in our house. It also adds fiber to our diet.
SmartyPants Women’s Vitamins and SmartFiber Fiber Supplement – $15/month
I recently ordered some vitamins I thought were gluten free. After about a week of significant pain, I figured out they weren’t gluten free. These vitamins and fiber supplement have helped to keep me regular. They are slowing down my digestion with the fiber without overpowering my system causing constipation. The vitamins may be simply creating expensive urine, but my hair and nails are definitely stronger when I take the vitamins.
Bush’s Beans – $1.50/can
We eat a lot of beans at my house – baked beans, garbanzo beans, refried beans, black beans, chili beans, etc. It can even be a quick and easy side! Knowing that I can grab a can of Bush’s Beans without even thinking is great. It is even better when I can tell friends or family to purchase Bush’s Beans when cooking a meal for me without worrying they might get the wrong can or version. I also stock up when they are on sale. I love Bush’s Beans!
Feel Good Foods Chicken Egg Rolls – $5/box
I’ve been known to eat all 3 in the package for dinner at times. They are delish, easy to prepare, and can make a quick meal on a busy night.
Krustease Cinnamon Swirl Cake – $5/box
OMG! This cake. It is moist, delicious, and so easy to make. I have taken it for desserts to dinner parties and people don’t know it is gluten free. We made it as my husband’s birthday cake this summer too!
Summary
We have lots and lots of other gluten free items in my house. I have flours, breads, brownie mixes, sauces, and the list goes on. These are my favorites. They are always in my pantry, fridge, or freezer. If these products aren’t in my house, they are on the grocery list for the next trip to the store.
If you haven’t tried them, try them out and see what you think!
Thanks since I fond out that I have celiac ,I have lost 27 pounds for a total of 45 pounds. Any ideas ? I do go by the diet….most of the time.
Eat more food. Naturally gluten free foods are lower in calories than what ypu may have been eating before.
Great list! Where do you buy the egg rolls? I love egg rolls!
Whole Foods and Kroger is where I find them. I think Amazon has them too.
