I accidentally bought myself a gluten-free pizza.
I went to the grocery store one afternoon this weekend—not in an “I have to get dinner on the table” way, but in a leisurely, post-errand, “What do we want for dinner?” way.
A brilliant green box called to me: a Tombstone French Fry Style Crust Garlic Parm Pizza.
So I performed the standard package inspection: front, back and sides. No gluten-free label. Milk in the bold allergen statement. Quick scan of the ingredients. Nothing glaring.
I bought it, took it home and threw it in the freezer without another thought. Maybe the gluten eaters would like it.
Sunday evening, I didn’t want to cook. I pulled it back out for the gluten eaters—and there it was.
Right on the front of the box, like it had been calling me the entire time:
Was it amazing? No.
Was it perfectly good in a pinch? Absolutely.
And it was half the price of my certified gluten-free California Pizza Kitchen Cauliflower Crust BBQ Chicken Pizza. Big win!
To be fair, I’m a creature of habit. I buy the same things over and over. But this reminded me that there are gluten-free products out there I haven’t tried—or apparently noticed while staring directly at the box.
Is this page going to become one long commercial for gluten-free food? No.
But sometimes a frozen gluten-free pizza is worth every penny for the convenience—and the night off from figuring out dinner.
So, tell us:
What gluten-free product have you discovered recently?
