Tummy Ache

Today I have a tummy ache. I want to curl up on the couch like the picture and just go to sleep. I’ve been a little off all week. I’ve eaten at home every day, so no risk of gluten exposure. I haven’t even had any processed foods for the last 5 days, only whole foods and proteins.

It started a couple of days ago. I was feeling a bit constipated. Not really bad, but enough that I noticed a significant lack of BM’s for a couple of days. I thought I would take some Natural Calm to get things moving. Natural Calm is magnesium that helps with sleep and makes you poo. Magnesium is the stuff they give you when prepping for a colonoscopy.

It helped me sleep but made things very gassy and uncomfortable. It doesn’t always make me that uncomfortable, but this time it did. And didn’t help with the poo issue.

Yesterday, the headache started, but again, it isn’t related to gluten. Today the headache intensified and I had to take a nap after picking up the kids from school. But the headache hasn’t abated. Three gluten free acetaminophen should help.

I might be hormonal (sorry, guys) related to shark week. But I won’t know for another few days.

So, is this Celiac related or something else? Probably something else. It will pass, I just have to be patient.

I see people post about a variety of symptoms and if I were a different person, I might post this asking for advice. Occasionally, this happens to me – unknown cause and unknown duration and just feeling lousy. I know that my body is working through something.

I will say before my participation in the Nexvax trial this happened about once every two weeks. It would take days to pass. I felt awful a lot before the trial.

Since the trial, it hasn’t happened in months. This is probably the first episode since the trial. It still will take a few days to pass, but at least it doesn’t happen as often.

I’ll get through it, but I wanted you to know there are days I don’t feel great. Just like everyone else, I put on my shoes and still get through the day. It stinks to be sick and not know where it came from or why. Or even, to figure out a what to find relief. Since, I’m not sure of the cause, it is hard to figure out what to do to make it better. I’m just going to keep a high water intake, keep up the acetaminophen, and keep on trucking.

Sorry for the downer post, but that’s just my day today. 🙁
