I hate that I have to write this article. I hate that this is even an issue, but it seems to be. Recently, I’ve seen a number of people asking about GlutenEase, Gluten Cutter, or other “gluten reducing” supplements.

If you have celiac disease, these are not going to stop damage in your intestines and is never appropriate to take any of these over the counter supplements. If you have a diagnosed wheat allergy, this will not help.

Currently there is no pill or other supplement that can help with celiac disease. Nothing will stop the damage caused by incidental gluten ingestion. Hopefully, soon, there will be something, but for now the answer is no.

If, however, you have an intolerance and want to try them, my answer is go for it! My answer for those with an intolerance for a lot of things is to simply try it. It might help some. It might not help some. You don’t know if you don’t try. There will be no long term consequences if you have an intolerance

I will also say that digestive enzymes, probiotics, and prebiotics do not help either. One probiotic that has been scientifically studied with a double blind, placebo controlled study to help those with Crohn’s disease – VSL#3. It is back on the market and ready for prime time. It didn’t help me, but it is a legit product. I’ve written about probiotics before – here is a link to the earlier article.

That’s all I’m going to say about this topic! I’m not going to write about it again!
